With special guest:

International Men’s Day is upon us. Every year on 19 November there is a theme and this year it is to “Make A Difference for Men and Boys”.

Our guest today is the UK Coordinator of International Men’s Day, Glen Poole who is in Australia to attend the debate on what needs to change, men or society.

There are issues that affect men and boys all over the world and International Men’s Day is an opportunity to consider topics such as men’s shorter life expectancy (a gap that is growing in Australia), the high male suicide rate and our collective tolerance of violence against men and boys (including sexual violence and domestic abuse).

These and many other issues are covered in the new book insideMAN: Pioneering Stories about Men and Boys that is edited by Dan Bell and Glen Poole. In this program we discuss the book, International Men’s Day and more broadly a whole range of issues affecting men today.

The book is full of stories, real life stories, each one told in a way that brings home the immediacy of the situation in a few short pages. Some are newspaper articles by well-known journalists, some are by marketing people others by ordinary Dads caught up in a system they did not know anything about until they were enmeshed.

Glen Poole is a speaker in high demand in many parts of the world as a leading expert on men’s issues and when you hear him on this program you will understand why. If some in our community do not see the present issues for men Glen Poole might change their mind.

It is great to have Glen in Australia for International Men’s Day and this interview opens the lid on a broad range of topics you will not find raised in the mainstream media. Don’t miss the opportunity to join others around the world by celebrating with us on International Men’s Day.
