With special guest:
Stan Korosi was dragged unwillingly into the world of parental alienation when after separation and divorce he found his own child had inexplicably become hostile towards him and even his extended family. When he looked for help from legal practitioners and health professionals in Australia he found that little was known. Many in the field would not even admit that parental alienation existed. Looking further afield he found that there is reputable and evidence based research available in the United States.
Now he could see the clear evidence that parental alienation is child abuse, and what is more it is just as damaging to the child as child sexual abuse.
Sadly most of us will know of at least one instance where a parent has turned a child against the other parent for reasons unconnected with the relationship between the child and that other parent. It is very common in Australia but the word has not got out as yet to recognise and deal with this scourge which has such damaging effects on our youth. The damage is also done to the parents who suffer unreasonably from being separated from their flesh and blood, often for years. The separation in severe cases of parental alienation can average twenty years.
Stan Korosi works with the alienated parents to help them rebuild the bonds with their children and to help alienated parents come to terms with the situation. Sometimes it is recognised that reunification is not possible.
This is a very personal account from a professional counsellor and consultant. We hear about developments in the field which for many parents can be more serious than anything else in their lives.
This is the inside story spoken from the heart. Every child, parent and grandparent should listen.
