Leading Women for Shared Parenting

With special guest:

  • Molly Olson

Why would leading women want to join a group that is striving to achieve the sharing of time that children spend with both parents after separation or divorce? If the approach of the Courts and the legislature has always been that the mothers are essential, fathers not so, why would these women work tirelessly to make changes?

Molly Olson is one of the fair-minded women found around the world who can see the benefits to the children as well as to the parents if the allocated time is shared. After listening to Molly it becomes a no-brainer that in her words the system has to change and it will change.

Molly has been in this space for seventeen years initially as the Founder and Executive Director of The Center for Parental Responsibility prior to becoming the Co-founder and President of Leading Women for Shared Parenting. There have been some successes such as in her home state of Minnesota where there is a baseline of 25% sharing for both parents established in the Law but clearly there is still much work to be done.

When male voices are sometimes discounted as just being whingers Molly is an eloquent and effective voice for reason that cannot be brushed aside.

We hear from Molly why shared parenting is important, at what age it should be introduced for the children, and the real story behind the high proportion of family cases that are “settled”.

This is an international movement that we hope will soon spread in Australia. If women from different walks of life are interested in joining this movement for the undisputed benefit to our children more information can be obtained from the website.

We cannot let the vested interests of lawyers, judges, court appointed experts, counsellors and the others involved in this billion dollar industry hinder the best interests of our children any longer.

Molly Olsen is the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Parental Responsibility. Molly is also the Co-Founder and President of Leading Women for Shared Parenting and part of the coalition to create a White House Council on Boys and Men.

Her leadership led to passage of a bill through the House and the Senate establishing a baseline for time sharing for children with each parent in the event of divorce making her well known throughout the Capitol for her tireless efforts on behalf of children.

Molly now sits on a task force appointed by the Governor to update Minnesota’s Family Law.
