One grandmother’s story for Grandparents Day
Everyone seems to know a parent who has been affected by parental alienation, except the so-called experts in the Family Court who pretend it does not exist. But what about the other family members caught up in this insidious web of deceit? Children are deprived without a valid reason of the valuable love and unqualified support of the older generation who have so much life experience to pass on to their blood descendants.
Our guest today is Anne King, the mother of four boys and grandmother of four girls. All her experience as a registered nurse and more recently working in the disability sector did not help her to see her grandchildren when the mother turned against the children’s father, Anne’s son Anthony.
Anne’s story is at times inspiring when we hear how far she has gone to help her son. If it meant mortgaging her family home to pay the legal bills it was done. Anne never shirked the hard road even if it meant going to court and offering 24 hour support in the face of ongoing emotional abuse to both her son and her directly.
Anne tells us how she has been separated from her grandchildren for four years. In fact the last time she saw them is burned into her brain, it was Father’s Day 2011. The story involves a whole system that plays into the hands of cruel parents who rely on the Court’s ineptitude in order to deny children what they might expect as their genetic legacy.
Warning. This is an emotional story, one that should not be part of modern day Australia. In 100 years’ time people will most likely be saying “what were they thinking?”
Anne King is very open in telling us what she has done to try and restore the love in the family. We ask the questions that people unfamiliar with the story would most likely want to know the answers to. If you want to hear about a grandmother’s love then listen in to hear Anne tell us in her own words straight from her heart what being a grandmother means to her.

Anne King
Anne King is a mother and grandmother who grew up on a dairy farm with her parents and siblings. Anne has worked for 30 years across different areas of the Victorian health system originally as a registered nurse and most recently in the disability sector. Anne has not seen her grandchildren for four years. The children’s great grandmother who is now 82 has also been denied. Anne is working towards the day when she will see her son’s children again and not just for the benefit of her own grandchildren but when the change comes it will be for all the children, parents, grandparents and other family members who are unfairly and unjustly kept away from their blood relatives.
